Second Stage: Italy were outfought by the USA which ended up a 10 v 9 battle, and have now given themselves the nightmare prospect of going home if beaten by the Czech Republic in their last game. This one really will be a cracker.

Czech Republic were comprehensively beaten by Ghana in their second game, and now know what they must do in the final game. It's all set up for a classic.

Ghana really must fancy themselves to qualify now with the USA up next. However the USA have shown they can mix it with the best and they are still not out of it yet. Qualification for USA would be very unlikely, but a good victory over Ghana would give them a chance.

A lot of football to go yet in Group E.

First Impressions: Both Italy and Czech Republic looked mighty impressive in their first games and will be confident of taking the top two spots. USA looked totally devoid of ideas, and punting the ball up the middle will not work for them - they need to totally rethink their strategy. Ghana did look to have some quality, but discipline looks poor with them.

The next round of games could well decide Group E, with Italy v USA & Czech Republic v Ghana looking fairly sure victories for the European teams.
