Rooney & Gerrard - Brainlesss?
Norbert: 19 June 2010: Rooney & Gerrard - Brainless? Jesus Christ. I've just watched the England v Algeria game again this morning. I thought I'd better do this to make sure I had a true perspective before I wrote something - I had a few beers last night watching the game in the pub, like many thousands of others. It is even worse when you're sober. Let me tell you. Don't put yourself through it unless you have to. What happened after the final whistle probably deserves more comment than all the dross that happened on the pitch. The verbal contributions from England's 2 favourite Scousers: Rooney & Gerrard certainly warrant further appraisal. We all know that footballers are not always the brightest sparks, so it will not be news to our viewers that Stevie G and his good buddy Wayne are basically as thick as shit. Their views after the match however, were poles apart. Football for me is all about England. But, as an Everton sympathiser (when it comes down to the Liverpool divide), I love Wayne Rooney as a footballer and have an almost irrational dislike of Steven Gerrard (I just think he's over rated and a bit of a twat really). But things changed a bit last night. After the game, Gerrard fronted up to the cameras and admitted that the players were basically shocking, that they had let us all down and that they know they must put in better performances themselves. No blaming the manager, no blaming the ball or the altitude or the pitch or the fans not getting behind them. Gerrard looked absolutely sincere in what he was saying, he looked upset, disappointed and apologetic. Just like the millions of us fans watching. He might be stupid, but he feels the pain just like us, and importantly he knows he and his pals are to blame. Well done Stevie for at least having the balls to say what's right. The other dumb Scouser is another matter however. I remember siitting in the crowd at Ewood Park when Moysie gave the fat little 16 year old his second run out in the Premier League. He was amazing. He still is amazing, and I still do think that he can win the World Cup on his own. He is that good as a footballer. He is also, from this day forward; A massive, massive, brainless twat. We all sort of knew that anyway, but he proved it in the worst possible way last night. Trudging off the pitch he turned to camera and sarcastically stated that "it's good to see the fans booing us". There was quite a bit of booing aimed at the telly in the pub where I was watching too Wayne. I imagine if I'd have paid £12,000 to get out to South Africa and sit pitch side I would have been chucking in the odd boo. I also reckon that if I'd have been close enough to you, and heard that comment, I'd have been over the fence and punched your half witted lights out. (Trust me Wayne, I may be fat and 43 years old, but I am a man that could really beat the shit out of you). I'm so disappointed. Rooney is in my eyes a football god. He's so good it's scary. He can do things that only a handful of people on the planet can do. He stands out above all the dross of the Carraghers & Wright Phillips' of this World. Do the talking with your feet you little bastard. Never open your mouth again unless you've thought about what you're going to say. I'm still pissed off by Brazil beating us 8 years ago. I haven't got over that yet. That's how much it means to some of us.
It's too much to take when you see the garbage served up against Algeria last night, and you don't care Wayne. You're thinking of yourself, like a stroppy kid who doesn't get his own way. It's not your fault. You want to blame someone else.
I will not allow you to blame us. You are the man that can put this right for yourself, and for us all. Give that head a shake, there is a tiny brain in there somewhere. Norbert.
