Wayne Bridge

Wayne Bridge at Football England Wayne Bridge - England Defender - World Cup Squad 2006
squad no. 14

club: Chelsea
position: Left Back
age: 25
caps: 23
goals: 1

Wayne Bridge's inactivity at Chelsea and his inconsistency on loan at Fulham mean Bridge is no longer the reliable looking standby he once was.

Has done well for England in the past but would not inspire confidence if needed now.

Football England Verdict
Rating: -

Just like being at Chelsea. In the squad, can't get on the pitch.

Portugal 0-0.
He was out there, honest.

Ecuador 1-0.
Was sent out specifically to warm up at one stage which was very surprising but wasn't actually sent on.

Sweden 2-2.
Unless Ashley breaks down we won't be seeing anything of this Wayne at the World Cup.

Trinidad 2-0.
The camera did actually catch him on the bench for a second. I hope his family had the video running.

Paraguay 1-0.
Even though Ashley Cole had one of his poorest games for England you did not exactly hanker after Bridge.
If we have qualified after the next game he might see action against Sweden, otherwise I think he's here for the trip.
