FA Cup: 5th round; lost 2-1 on penalties to Newcastle United.

Highlight:
6-2 win against Bristol Academy.

Low Spot:
2-1 extra time defeat to Everton in the League Cup semi finals.

Good:
Helen Lander
Over twenty league goals and almost thirty in all competitions tells its‘ own story. For a newly promoted club it was a magnificent effort.
Lander leaves the approach play to others but comes alive whenever the ball is in or around the box. Strong and uncomplicated she has the happy knack of knowing exactly where the goal is and exactly how to get the ball into it.
Ashlee Hincks
Hincks contributed massively to a Watford side that always looked to attack and score goals.
Strong in possession and capable of carrying the ball long distances she also has the ability to open up defences with her passing ability.
Still improving and could become an important talent.

In Brief:
Many people might have expected Watford to struggle in what was their first season in the top flight but the club brought in several new players during the summer and, after losing their opening fixture to Birmingham, they won three straight games against decent opposition and were never in danger from that point on.
Solid league form was also backed up by an excellent run in the League Cup which saw Watford account for Doncaster and Birmingham before they pushed the eventual winners Everton all the way to extra time before losing narrowly in the semi finals.
To their credit Watford not only managed to survive but they did so playing expansive, attacking football and were always an entertaining team to watch. In Helen Lander and Ashlee Hincks they also boasted two of the stars of the season.
