Trinidad and Tobago Football Team
The Trinidad and Tobago football team will be appearing at the Finals for the first time in Germany 2006, 40 years after their first attempt to qualify. Their qualification in itself was a major achievment for such a small nation.
The Soca Warriors, as they are nicknamed, claimed a very unlikely win against Mexico to progress to a final playoff against Bahrain. They drew in the home leg, but defeated Bahrain on their own turf to qualify. Impressive stuff.
The draw for the finals in Germany sees the Trinidad and Tobago team matched with England, Paraguay & Sweden in World Cup Group B, and it would be a huge surprise for them to progress even further.
The best known player for the T & T side is Dwight Yorke , who has spent many seasons in the Premier League in England. Some other notable Soca Warriors are Shaka Hislop, Stern John & Russel Latapy.
The Trinidad and Tobago football team is managed by yet another Dutchman, Leo Beenhakker, and they are ranked at number 50 in the World by FIFA.
