Gordon Banks- Purely because he saved the unsavable, and won a world cup, can't do more than that.
Jimmy Armfield- As stated, not a great position for england, but a smooth cultured operator
Roger Byrne- But for munich, could've been the greatest of them all
Neil Franklin- everything you could want a centre half to be
Bobby Moore- Not the quickest, but the everything else. Made people around him play.
Duncan Edwards- Big strong powerful, and a great player. Best British player ever in my view
Bryan Robson- The only one I've seen live. The player I always wanted to be. dominant in both boxes, great midfielder with underated skills. To quote Booby Robson "England were a taller prouder team when he played".
Bobby Charlton- Could've played him anywhere across the midfield or frontline, in my team he plays in front of the midfield and off my central striker, freedom to roam and do his thing
Stanley Matthews- Bit of a one trick pony- but a hell of a trick.
Tomy Finney- Again, could've played anywhere across the frontline, and probably the most complete English attacker ever.
Tommy Lawton- Only playing one centre forward, but with Tommy I only need the one.
Subs: Shilton, Gascoigne, Lineker, Pearce, Bastin, Gerrard, Todd- All my bases covered, and plenty of impact.
Manager- Brian Clough- Seriously, who else? The guy won a European Cup with Gary Mills in the team. God alone knows what he could do with this lot. Possibly conquer the Universe.
I'm playing a 4-3-3, Edwards and Robbo tight in the middle with Charlton in the hole, and Matthews wide right Finney wide left and Lawton down the middle. The flexibility is awesome. I can go 4-5-1 with the wingers dragged back, 4-4-2 with Charlton in the Beardsley role, 4-2-4 with the wingers pushed on.
This team will be hard to beat. We can finesse you, or, with edwards and robson, we can beat you up. You pick how you want to lose, we dont care how we beat you
