Tom Finney Photo

by John Kerr

I have a photograph of Tom on tour with the RAF/England team during the war

I have attached one of a few photographs I have in my possession. Tom Finney is 5th from the right - my Uncle (Billie Knox) is 3rd from the right. Unfortunately I don't have the exact details of the tour as all my relatives are dead and I only know that the trip is around 1945 to Switzerland.

I have also attached a postcard which belonged to my Uncle Bill which has the autographs of the players on tour - you may be able to regognise some other famous players of the era - Tommy Lawton, Frank Swift, Joe Mercer, Ted Fenton, Frank Soo!!

Sorry about the quality of the photographs as I took it on my phone.

For information, my uncle played for a number of teams before the war, including Luton and Burnley.
He ended his career as Trainer/Physiotherapist at Sheffield Wedneday and died in 1950 of a heart attack. The photos and autographs were given to me by my Auntie a few years before she died.

Regards,
John
