Theo Walcott has been included because he is extremely fast and, presumably, because nobody has seen him play (including Eriksson).

It would not be such a big deal if our gormless manager had included another forward but the likelihood is that we will actually need something from Theo at some stage and that is an enormous ask of someone yet to make their Premiership debut.

Let's just hope for the best, like Sven is doing.

What a farce. It's not his fault, it's Sven's. But why was he taken?
All that was accomplished was he was gifted a cap and is now the youngest player to have represented England. Has he earned that honour?

Portugal 0-0.
So much for Sven's bold, exciting gamble. Sven filled out his lottery ticket but never handed over his quid. What a dickhead.

Ecuador 1-0.
Possibly the summers' biggest white elephant.

Sweden 2-2.
The chances of him featuring improved with Owen's injury but it is hard to believe Sven has any real confidence in him given that he remains unseen so far.
If Owen is out he has to feature at some stage against Ecuador to see if he has anything to offer.

Trinidad 2-0.
Nowhere to be seen. Possibly still injured thanks to Mr. Rooney but it will need to get pretty bleak, or pretty damn good, before Sven chucks him on.

Theo's nursing a calf injury and guess how he got it? Rooney took him out in the practise session the squad players had after Saturday's game. Remarkable.

Paraguay 1-0.
The first acid test of Sven's supposed faith in Theo was revealing. With Owen yards off the pace there was no sign of England's one other available forward replacing him. Stayed on the bench while a couple of midfield journeymen came on instead.
