response to the rise and fall of the chelsea empire by: Rachel
It's hard to have too much sympathy with Chelsea, (especially as I support a team struggling at the bottom of the Championship with very little money at their disposal)
I was shocked Chelsea got rid of Scolari so soon...at the start of the season when Chelsea were playing well and top of the table, everyone thought he was great! A few poor results later, he's clearing out his desk. Player power it would seem sealed his departure.
Abramovich wants success yesterday, and he is not prepared to wait any longer. He also wants to be entertained, and with the amount of money he's poured into Chelsea, surely he has a right to demand success and flowing football? He's not going be satisfied with finishing 2nd in the leaguie or runner's up in the Champion's league.
I don't necessarily agree or like the amount of foreign ownership in the premiership these days, but to be fair to Roman, it's his money. He turned Chelsea into a team capable of winning the PL. Without him, they would be looking at mid-table mediocrity season after season.
So, if he wants to change manager as and when it suits, then who are Chelsea fans to argue? They can't have it both ways.

I suppose you want him to leave the money behind. It's his club, they were an average team before he arrived and would probably soon revert to that status if he left. He doesn't want to be second best and to wait, he wants it now and will pay for it. I mean Championships, European Cup Finals and third in the table and he is not satisfied. All power to him!
