Without a doubt the best crosser of a ball I have ever seen,he could put it on a sixpence,unlike modern day players who seem totally unable to master this skill.The right wing combination of Paine and George O'Brien was truly special,fast and clever play,coupled with goals galore.

The Saints side of the early 1960's was without doubt the best fast skilfull soccer I have witnessed.Superb skills all carried out with pace and precision,but if the play was slightly off would result in a draw or defeat,but on their day they could beat anyone....
