Billy Bonds is the true legend of Upton Park.

The fans do go on about Bobby Moore - that's Robert Frederick CHELSEA Moore, to use his full name.

Bobby Moore asked to transfer to Spurs in 1966, but when Sir Alf Ramsey told him that would mean he was ineligible to play for England in the World Cup, he renewed his contract with WHU. The Hammers were his second choice.

There are only three true WHU legends; Hurst, Bonds and Brooking.

Hurst was the lone striker, Brooking was the brains behind the tactical move, the gentleman who never argued.............and then there was Billy Bonds.

Billy was the one they had to get past to score. Billy was the one they would rather run down the wing and cross the ball to too avoid. Billy was the one who Bremner and Mackay avoided. Billy was fearless.

Yes he blew it as a manager, but that was because the fans wanted him when he wasn't ready. He is now. If only they would call him up to replace that silly little Eye-Tye they cal Gianfranco..............
