Sol Campbell
Sol Campbell - England Defender - World Cup Squad 2006
squad no. 12
club: Arsenal
position: Centre Half
age: 31
caps: 68
goals: 1
Sol Campbell has been an absolute giant in the previous two tournaments but looks a shadow of his former self.
He will be desperate to impress if he is called upon but it is hard to believe that sheer will power can see him reach such heights again.
The nation will be holding its' breath if Sulzeer has to play more than a bit part.
Football England Verdict
Rating: 4.00
Gets his rating for one appearance as substitute but it still seems reasonable as the defence proceded to fall to pieces on his arrival.
Next season is crucial for Sol if he is going to feature in another major tournament.
Portugal 0-0.
Must have been getting excited about the semi final after Terry's booking but it wasn't meant to be for Big Sol.
Ecuador 1-0.
Stayed on the bench for this one but if we were to make it all the way to the final he will probably be needed again. Can he still cut it at this level?
Sweden 2-2.
Football England rating: 4
It might not have been all his fault but the defence went to pieces after he replaced Ferdinand. This performance will have done nothing to convince a sceptical nation.
Trinidad 2-0.
Not required.
Paraguay 1-0.
No hint of Sol taking any part in this one.
