Queens Park Rangers 2007-08 Season

14th in the Championship
League Cup: 1st round, Leyton Orient h. 1-2
FA Cup: 3rd round, Chelsea a. 0-1

Highlight:
4-2 win at Watford, 29/12/07

Low Spot:
2-4 defeat at home to Colchester United, 3/10/07

Good:
Akos Buzsaky
Exciting midfielder who has real skill on the ball and a flair for the spectacular. Ten goals from twenty odd games was an excellent return.
Martin Rowlands
Consistent midfielder whose influence was vital during a season of transition.

Bad:
Marc Nygaard
Big, lumbering Danish centre forward with cement boots.
Daniel Nardiello
Signed from Barnsley in pre-season with big hopes but failed to make an early impression and was then the forgotten man of Loftus Road.

In Brief:
There was huge excitement for the fans at Loftus Road as a consortium of mega rich Formula 1 types took control of the club but they did not appear to be in a massive hurry to splash their much publicised cash.
There were several new faces in both transfer windows but the newcomers were solid rather than spectacular and some were simply surprising. By the end of the season the squad looked easily good enough to consolidate in The Championship but still in need of genuine improvement if a promotion bid is to be mounted next season.
It was also difficult to see what direction the new owners were going in with the managers position. The appointment of Luigi Di Canio suggested something exotic but the Italian was shown the door at the end of the season with the anything but exotic Iain Dowie chosen as his replacement.
On the pitch the club recovered from an awful first half to the season to finish comfortably placed in 14th having been bottom of the table just before Christmas. This recovery came through a steady accumulation of points rather than a real surge, however, and it remains debatable what next season has in store.
