Poland Football Team
The Poland Football Team have a proud tradition in the World Cup Finals, having reached the semi-finals on two occasions in 1974 & 1982. They have not looked like repeating that success in recent years though, but must be optimistic about their chances in Germany.
The Polish side were only beaten twice in qualification for the finals, both times by England. They impressively won all their other qualifiers.
Although the Poland squad are drawn in the same group as home nation Germany, their other two opponents in World Cup Group A are Costa Rica & Ecuador, who the Poles must regard as eminently beatable. However, if they do reach the knockout stages, Poland's goalkeeper Jerzy Dudek may be a busy man.
The Polish forwards Zurawski and Frankowski have a good partnership that has amassed a lot of goals, and while they are not in the class of Polish World Cup legend Zbigniew Boniek, they may trouble a few defences.
The Poland Football Team is coached by Pawel Janas and is ranked by FIFA as number 22 in the World.
