Plymouth Argyle 2007-08 Season

10th in the Championship
League Cup: 3rd round, West Ham United a. 0-1
FA Cup: 4th round, Portsmouth a. 1-2

Highlight:
2-0 win at Southampton, 19/2/08

Low Spot:
1-2 defeat at home to Charlton Athletic, 5/4/08

Good:
Peter Halmosi
Tricky winger who was the chief creative threat for Argyle after the sale of Akos Buzsaky to QPR.
Lilian Nalis
Plymouth actually released Nalis, who is pushing 37, at the end of the season but the competitive midfielder had again provided a commendably consistent shift in the middle of the park throughout the campaign and his boots will be hard to fill.

Bad:
Bojan Djordjic
This is one former Manchester United youth team starlet who looks likely to fall by the wayside.
Cherno Samba
One of the greatest Championship Manager players ever still seems to believe his early career hype but continues to achieve nothing.

In Brief:
This was a frustrating season at Home Park. Plymouth were well in promotion contention at Christmas and a run of victories in February kept them well placed to challenge. The club could only win two of their last ten fixtures, however, and ended up missing out on the play offs altogether.
The fans will no doubt be wondering what might have been had the club kept hold of Akos Buzsaky, Sylvan Ebanks-Blake and David Norris and these sales did smack of false economy by the end of the season.
With nobody recruited yet of anything like a similar quality Argyle are probably unlikely to be in as strong a position to challenge for a Premier League place in the near future.
