liam p's team

PETER SHILTON - best keeper in the world for 20 years. Say no more.

GARY NEVILLE - solid at the back, a threat going forward, and easily the world's best right-back in his prime. Could also cover at centre-back.
BOBBY MOORE(C) - best defender in history. End of. Captained England to the World Cup, never put a foot wrong in 15 years.
NEIL FRANKLIN - superb defender, great at the back, great on the ball. Other than more there's no finer centre-half, though Tony Adams runs him close.
STUART PEARCE - a rock at the back and never let both the ball and the man get past him. Decent going forward but in for his sheer force.

STANLEY MATTHEWS - the wizard on the wing for years on end. Stan gave defenders a torrid time game in game out and they were glad to see the back of him.
BOBBY CHARLTON - A midfielder more lethal than any striker. He was the driving force, the creater and the destroyer all in one shot. Class act.
PAUL GASCOIGNE - what a player. He was awesome in possession, never gave it away, scored stunner after stunner. Cheeky little sod as well as arguably England's craftiest player ever. Dead cert.
TOM FINNEY - nothing to call between him and Matthews, so why not put them both in? A superb player around in the days before the "glory years" of '66.

JIMMY GREAVES - scored goal after goal after goal for 20 years. Greavesy would stroll his way into any team going in the 60s, 70s and 80s. Lethal striker.
ALAN SHEARER - created loads and scored even more. Scored goals for whoever he played for, and England was no exception. Deservedly captained his country and the best striker in the modern times.

ALF RAMSEY - for all his mistakes in years to come, he won the world cup for England, a feat nobody else has achieved. has to be in there.
