Leeds United Ladies FC 2007-08 Season

National Premier League: 3rd
League Cup: 1st round; Liverpool a. 0-2
FA Cup: Runners Up; lost 1-4 to Arsenal.

Highlight:
Their third penalty shootout success of the season in the FA Cup semi final against Everton.

Low Spot:
0-2 defeat at Liverpool in the League Cup.

Good:
Carly Telford
Everyone will remember Telford‘s magnificent performance in the FA Cup final but she impressed throughout with her confident handling and shot stopping in the Leeds goal. Has all the attributes needed to press for the England number 1 jersey.
Sue Smith
Smith remains a bright, impish member of the Leeds attack and was at her best for much of the season as she created chances for others and took them herself in almost equal measure.

In Brief:
Poor home form in the early part of the season saw Leeds well off the pace in the league but they recovered strongly to finish 3rd and also made it to the FA Cup final, their third major final in as many years.
Unfortunately they lost comprehensively to Arsenal in this showpiece event but then managed a draw away to the champions in the league to further belief within the camp that they are possibly closing the gap on the top two.
It would appear that more firepower is required if Leeds are to properly challenge Arsenal or Everton but this was a satisfactory campaign overall.
