Jermaine Jenas at Football England Jermaine Jenas - Midfielder - England's World Cup Squad 2006
squad no. 17

club: Tottenham Hotspur
position: Midfield

It's not that we necessarily think Jermaine Jenas is a baddun' but he looks the strangest selection of all.

There would have to be a plague among the midfielders for him to figure in the tournament.

Sven really didn't think it through, did he? This is where you could have had another forward, boss.

Football England Verdict
Rating: -

It's not his fault but his selection was a bigger farce than Walcott's. Eriksson continued to refuse to admit his blunder but there was absolutely no call for Jenas whatsoever when we were crying out for another forward.
What the hell was going through Eriksson's head when he picked his squad?

Portugal 0-0.
What a joke.

Ecuador 1-0.
Still no sign of Jermaine being needed despite going in with an extra midfielder.

Sweden 2-2.
Surely even Sven had to wince when he saw this guy come down for breakfast today. Why was he selected?

Trinidad 2-0.
Why is he there? Surely Sven got his Jermaine's mixed up.

Paraguay 1-0.
Why is he there? Downing and Hargreaves got on before him. Carrick, Carragher and Lennon will all get used ahead of him. Pointless selection.
