you should take a look at the Scotish, german, spanish, or italian leuge if you think the english leque is predictable its been down to the wire the last 3-4 years you the english leque is fine the others above e been dominated for one or two teams for decade after decade i think the fact in england 5 teams are chalenging is amazing and if evry one could become a millionaire thru doing the things they loved would it be such a bad world??
and would players be paid so much money hid in the spotlight and never seen come out ther mansions if the genral public would let them get on with ther jobs and lives its fans and people with unhealthy infactuations for players that keep them fi sittin in the pub with you.. did you know alot of players are taxed 50% of those big salaries so when police men and fireman dont get to go home at christmas atleast they still have big erners like rooney to pay ther wages......... im no writer either bit dyslexic to be fare but as a man i do know a bit about football

Where to now?
by: Anonymous

A wage cap is the only way forward but that would be to the detriment of the P League-players would go elsewhere including Lampard Rooney Gerrard etc.
Rugby League has become an entertaining model and the fans are in touch because of the system.

I personally think the premier league has improved the quality of our national team players. The problem is we havent found a decent manager yet.Who would suggest that the following is NOT a potentially great team. James,Johnson,Terry,Ferdinand,Cole,Gerrard,Lampard,Rooney,Cole,Walcott,et al we do have outstanding footballers but lack belief.

TV also has a lot to answer for and clubs like Wigan and Blackburn with empty seats are embarrassing. As a Hull City lifelong fan living down south I have been unable to get any tickets for any matches!!so there must be some demand there.

My real worry is that the league is becoming boring and predictable-we all know who the top five clubs will be next year-the exciting conversation point is who will be relegated!!.When I started watching football in the early seventies there were a number of clubs who could compete and whilst Arsenal ,United and Liverpool were generaly thereabouts it wasnt a forgone conclusion-today I fear it is becoming very predictable and frankly the game is getting a little boring and flogged to death.

Entertainment for the corporates
by: Anonymous

Thanks for your comments, much appreciated.
You are right, football is not so much a 'game' anymore, merely entertainment for the corporate people among us and not the working class men (& women!)

It has served for decades. Us 'real' fans are being priced out. It is sad to say it, but I think football is becoming less of a sport and more like a business. Who knows what it will be like in 10 years time...I hate to think.

The Game
by: villan450years

You may only be a woman,to quote yourself but you make more sense than many a male I've been forced to listen to. The one thing you did forget to mention is,the game. Sadly the game is no longer a game. That is why we see diving, cheats and bullies in every match. All since the 'toffs' took a liking for the 'sport',just the same as they did to opera. Yes peeps opera used to belong to us 'working' men,now we'd be lucky to be able to afford a ticket if we used a months wage. The 'game' of football is heading the same way fast.
