Big Dave Watson - England Legend

I remember watching Big Dave Watson play for England many times as a boy.

He was simply inspirational to me, and to this day, I do not think I've seen a better defender in an England shirt.

A no-nonsense sort of bloke who used to be absolutely fearless in the air, and was certainly no slouch on the deck. The presence of the man on the pitch used to make him look enormous & truly scary.
I'm surprised to read that he isn't at least 6' 2".

Had he been "discovered" earlier by England (he was nearly 28 when he got his 1st cap) he surely would have gone on to receive well in excess of 100 caps.

If Rio Ferdinand thinks he's an England class defender, he needs to watch one or two of big Dave's videos. The 1973 Cup Final would be a good starter.

I doubt they ever will.
