Czech Republic Football Team
2006 is the first time that the Czech Republic Football Team has qualified for the World Cup Finals under their new name, although they have a long history at past finals as Czechoslovakia.
The Czech National team have been twice beaten finalists in the World Cup in 1934 & 1962 and are well fancied to perform well again this time round.
The Czech Republic team emerged from a difficult European qualifying group in second place behind Holland, but needed to beat Norway in a two legged play off to finally qualify. Both of these games were won by the Czechs 1-0.
The Czech squad features well known names, particularly from the top European Leagues - Pavel Nedved, Jan Koller, Milan Baros & Petr Cech to name just a few. They will certainly deserve respect from their group opponenets Italy, United States & Ghana, and many fanct them to progress through the first stage.
Managed by Karel Bruckner, the Czech Republic football team are currently number 2 in FIFA's World rankings.
