Qualifying

In an almost ridiculously easy qualification two teams out of six went through in the CONCACAF section.
Renowned footballing superpower America therefore had to beat Mexico to guarantee qualification which, not surprisingly, they did.
They then also beat Canada in the final of that section, thanks to a penalty right at the end of extra time, in a game that was basically meaningless but was fiercely fought all the same.
If, by some miracle, the US had managed to botch this group they would have had a play off with Japan to fall back on.
Some countries have it really hard.

Look Out For

Abby Wambach and don't worry, you can't really miss her. Tall striker who was the star in qualifying.

Prospects

It's funny to think that America should lead the world in football but that is basically the case in the womens' game. The sport is a high profile, professional set up and the USA are always one of the teams to beat.
Even though this team does not look perhaps as strong as one or two other American outfits they will still take a lot of beating.
Strong all over the pitch, well organised and extremely fit they are physically, as well as technically, equipped to go far.
