Never really got to grips with the game in midfield and really missed her partner in crime, Fara Williams. Never stopped working but on this occasion graft alone was not enough.

Argentina 6-1:

Suspended for this one but will definitely be back for the quarter finals with Fara Williams now suspended herself.

Germany 0-0: Football England Rating 9

Chapman picked a good time to give possibly her best ever performance in an England shirt.
Got booked early on, thus ruling herself out of the Argentina game, but went on to dominate the midfield with a series of crunching tackles and astute interceptions.
Will be expecting her colleagues to clinch qualification from the group to allow her the opportunity of producing more of the same in the knockout stages.

Japan 2-2: Football England Rating 6

Did OK but never really hit top form and did not link with Fara Williams as smoothly as normal.
Also picked up a booking and will now need to be careful against the Germans when she will be required to put in a big performance if England are to have any chance of getting something.

Assessment:

Chapman is the real anchor of the England midfield and forms an outstanding combination with Fara Williams. Good in the air, hard tackling and with tremendous energy her strengths are of a defensive type although she is a good footballer in her own right when she does venture forward.

Someone who sometimes passes unnoticed but hardly ever lets the team down and gives the defenders behind her real protection.

Will be expected to subdue any opposition playmakers.
