Qualifying

South American qualification was gained via two group stages. Argentina headed their initial group, including Uruguay, Chile, Ecuador and Columbia, to progress to the final group stage.
Having dropped points to Uruguay "The Albiceleste" needed to beat Brazil in the final game to qualify for China, something they had never previously managed.
When they most needed to, however, they managed it with a 2-0 victory although the fact that Brazil had already booked their passage probably did them no harm.

Look Out For

Rosana Gomez is the teams' chief source of inspiration and loves to get forward from midfield. She also plays for Boca Juniors.
Sound familiar? If she starts jumping up inside the England penalty area with her arm above her head I hope Rachel Brown is ready to punch her lights out.

Prospects

Something of an unknown quantity and although they are ranked as the outsiders in this group you expect them to be dangerous opponents.
We play them last in what could be a make or break game. Scary.
